Saycon the southern pin-up... SAYCON SENGBLOH was born in Atlanta Georgia. She joins a list of talented artists who represent a city known to many in entertainment as one of the music mecca's of the south. She grew up listening to the Jackson's, Tina Turner, and Prince. "My mother would play the Jackson's 'Can You Feel It' and the bass would rock my heart, . . .Saycon began singing publicly in middle school and continued performing in both plays and musicals at one of Atlanta's popular performing arts magnet schools, Tri-Cities High. Tri-Cities' alumni currently include a cast member on Saturday Night Live and members of the Grammy award winning groups 'Outcast', 'Xscape', and 'Jagged Edge'. It was during this time that Saycon blossomed as an actress under the tutelage of mentor and friend, Freddie Hendrick's as a member of his Youth Ensemble of Atlanta (YEA). She had the opportunity to originate characters in musicals co-written and performed by YEA members. Performing with theatre companies in the city was a way to make ends meet while attending college. Those theatres and theatrical companies include Atlanta's Fox Theatre, 7-Stages, Jomandi Productions and the Alliance Theatre Company. Saycon was cast in the 'National American Tour of the Pulitzer Prize winning musical Rent' as the addicted and seductive lead "Mimi". She toured the US and traveled to Tokyo, Japan to rave reviews in 'Rent'. Saycon recently starred in 'Elton John and Tim Rice's Aida" as the 'Aida standby' to the stars. She performed the role of Aida for promotional appearances and during the vacations of R&B artists Simone, Toni Braxton, Destiny Child's: Michelle Williams, and currently the dance hit diva Deborah Cox. Hearts will be moved this fall as she originates the role of "Nettie" in the Premiere production of the musical version of "The Color Purple" at the Alliance Theatre. Through her entertainment company, Honeywax, Saycon is the executive producer of the independent CD release "Southern Pin-Up" and the 2005 hip-hop beauty calendar "Original Southern Pin-Up" featuring some of Atlanta's hottest future talent. "My goal is to be me, different, and to excel with little regard to preconceived notions of what a star should be." The future looks bright, so please stay tuned!
