China was born on the 9th of January 1978 in Los Angeles. Her father, Gibert Moses, is a director; her mother, Dee Dee Bridgewater, a jazz singer. At the ageof 4, China already goes with her mum, waiting in the wings, for the play "Sophisticated Lady". China : "My mother used to wear a feathered green dress at this time and after each show I collected the feathers just to make the same dress myself. But I never succeeded." So China is lucky to have been immersed in music since she was young. When she was 7 she arrives in France but very often goes back to the States to see her father. In 1995 her father died, so China felt the need to really express herself. Her mother persuades her to jot her feelings down. China : "When I decided to sing I have really been supported, and it encouraged me to go on and doing my best..."
